About the Program

The University of the Philippines launched the Collective Mentorship Program (CMP) as a strategic platform for advancing graduate education, research, creative work, innovation, and public service across the UP System. Approved by the UP Board of Regents during its 1408th Meeting on 30 April 2026, the program supports the University’s mandate to strengthen research excellence and increase PhD graduation rates through an enabling and collaborative mentorship ecosystem.

The CMP brings together experienced mentors, faculty members, researchers, graduate units, and academic communities in a structured environment that promotes collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and capacity-building. Through collective mentorship, the program aims to strengthen research networks, nurture emerging scholars and innovators, and foster impactful research, creative work, and public service initiatives across disciplines.

As part of its initial implementation, the CMP invites graduate units to institutionalize Research, Creative Work, and Innovation Programs and apply for Program Outright Grants to support operational needs and program development. The program seeks to embed sustainable mentorship systems within the University’s graduate ecosystem while cultivating a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.

Through the CMP, UP envisions a future where mentorship serves as a catalyst for transformative research, creative production, technology innovation, and meaningful public service for the nation.
