The Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) leads the University’s efforts to establish a dynamic research and innovation ecosystem that fosters collaboration among academic units and links UP with technical and creative industries, startups, and partner institutions both locally and globally. 

OVPRI provides focused leadership and resources dedicated to advancing research initiatives, promoting social innovation and sustainability, and addressing key national priorities such as food security, renewable energy, public health, and climate change. 

It supports building a knowledge-based workforce, strengthening the country’s global competitiveness in terms of research and innovation, developing high-value industries, and contributing to inclusive economic development in the Philippines.

The office is headed by the Vice President for Research and Innovation, supported by the Assistant Vice President for Research and the Assistant Vice President for Innovation.
