Special Lecture of Former Korean Foreign Minister Jin Park on Science Diplomacy and the Future of Korea-Philippines Partnership A Special Lecture by former Korean Foreign Minister Jin Park will be conducted by the University of the Philippines Korea Research Center (UP KRC) in coordination with the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines. The special lecture, themed “Science Diplomacy and the Future of Korea-Philippines Partnership”, will take place on 28 April 2026 (Tuesday), at the ASEAN-Japan Hall, Asian Center, UP Diliman, from 10:30 – 11:30 AM. The said event will also be available via Zoom. This event highlights the institution’s dedication to providing quality education while strengthening the bilateral ties between South Korea and the Philippines. The key objectives of the lecture are as follows: Examine the future landscape of science diplomacy and the Korea-Philippines partnership; To conduct public diplomacy initiatives by Korea; and To foster future partnerships and collaborations between UP and Korean institutions. CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: OVPA x OVPRI 2026 Gawad Pangulo Awards The Office of the Vice President for Administration (OVPA) and the Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation (OVPRI) officially open the CALL FOR NOMINATIONS for the 2026 Gawad Pangulo sa Natatanging Yunit para sa Administrasyon, Pananaliksik at Paglikha, at Ekstensyon & 2026 Gawad Pangulo sa Natatanging Kawani ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas. Gawad Pangulo is the Presidential recognition that members of the UP community may receive for their achievements and contributions that advance the mandate of UP to lead as a public service University while maintaining its standards of excellence; hence promoting the core values of Honor and Excellence in the service of the nation. In view of this, the UP Office of the Vice President for Administration and the UP Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation officially open the call for nominations for the following Gawad Pangulo awards: A. 2026 Gawad Pangulo sa Natatanging Kawani ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas The Gawad Pangulo para sa Natatanging Kawani ng Unibersidad ng Pilipinas is the highest award given by the University to recognize and value the contribution of administrative personnel and Research, Extension, and Professional Staff (REPS) of UP System in the attainment of the academic and operational excellence in the University. The awardees are expected to embody the University’s principles of Karangalan at Kahusayan sa paglilingkod para sa Bayan. Each awardee shall receive ₱100,000.00, and their home unit shall receive ₱50,000.00. B. 2026 Gawad Pangulo sa Natatanging Yunit para sa Administrasyon, Pananaliksik at Paglikha, at Ekstensyon The Gawad Pangulo sa Natatanging Yunit para sa Administrasyon, Pananaliksik at Paglikha, at Ekstensyon aims to recognize the outstanding contributions of administrative units resulting from an idea or performance that directly benefits more than one department of the government. This award shall be given to any administrative institution in the University of the Philippines (UP) that exhibits administrative systems and initiatives in public service that embody the University’s principles of Karangalan at Kahusayan sa Paglilingkod para sa Bayan. Inoblasyon: The UP Innovation Summit 2026

Inoblasyon: The UP Innovation Summit 2026 The University of the Philippines brings together researchers, entrepreneurs, government officials, and industry leaders for the first Inoblasyon: The UP Innovation Summit, May 5-6 at the SMX Convention Center Aura in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The summit will feature plenary sessions and panel discussions focused on how research and collaboration can address national challenges, and on ways to strengthen science, technology, and innovation to support national development goals. Inoblasyon also marks the formal launch of the UP System Office of the Vice President for Research and Innovation, which will help coordinate the university’s systemwide technology development and partnerships aimed at supporting national priorities. Eight innovation clusters focused on research priority sectors will also be launched. These are: health, biotech, and biomedical systems; agri-aqua biotechnology and smart food systems; functional foods and nutraceuticals; climate, energy, and environmental technologies; sustainable materials, circular economy, and green manufacturing; creative industries and cultural enterprises; digital governance and public sector innovation; and education and human capital technologies. The event will also feature technology showcases, startup and research exhibits, and networking opportunities to foster and deepen partnerships among academia, government, industry, and investors — including the signing of collaborative agreements to accelerate the transfer, adoption, deployment, and scaling of UP-developed technologies.
